Corsica

How about biking the length of Corsica for charity?

We have run a course that did exactly that. The journey took 14 days and was at a relaxed pace. It was the height of the summer, so pretty hot in the mid-afternoon.The group did the journey on mountain bikes. In some of the best areas of the island for mountain sport they stayed for 2 or 3 days. Corsica offers tremendous opportunities for mountain sport. The island is crossed by Europe's most famous footpath - the GR20. This takes 7 - 9 days to complete and we can help you do it of course, by providing transport, accommodation, food gear and a guide. There are many other great mountain treks as well.

The south of the Island is more forested and has plenty of fast flowing rivers. There is great opportunity therefore water sports, and also for cooling off with a plunge in the heat of the afternoon. There are several Via Ferrata. The most notable are in the Vallee de l'Asco in the north. These provide a fantastic was to get to some airy summits. Spectacular 'zip lines' of sometimes up to 150 metres in length provide a stimulating descent.

The Island has very different scenery in three distinct areas; the south, the high mountains of the middle of the country, and the desert-like environment of the north (Cape Corse is particularly worth visiting).

On of the many great things about the Island is that the food is of a particularly high standard. The Corsican beer and wine is good too - so unwinding in the evening is a complete pleasure! There is a huge amount on offer and Corsica makes an ideal activity

Getting To Corcisa....

Getting There is easier than ever it was thanks to the 'cheap' airlines.

It is possible to fly to directly to Bastia, or to fly to Nice and get the ferry.

Perhaps the most pleasant way though is to fly to the north of Sardinia. Enjoy the beaches of the north coast of this Island for a day or two before taking the short ferry journey to the south of Corsica and the magnificently situated Bonifacio.

Accommodation can range from camping to self-catering to whatever the star Hotel you may want!
